Gordon Glessner, Life Coach

Gordon

                Education:
Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, Azusa Pacific University
Masters in Bible, Maranatha Baptist Bible College
Bachelors in English, Eastern Illinois University

Experience:

From growing up in a challenging farm background, Gordon is well acquainted with the necessity of persistence. He is also acquainted with the value of establishing a sense of hope and direction as a basis for identifying and achieving meaningful goals. He is aware of the value of knowing how to tap into the expertise of knowledgeable others, that what we really want may be different than what we believe we want, and that meaningful paradigm shifts are often more difficult and painful than they need to be.

These came together for him in working as a therapist when he became convinced that there must be a better, faster, less painful way to help clients than the talk therapy approaches he was using. As a result, Gordon became a book and training junkie, on average attending significantly more training than required by the state of California or taken by the average therapist, and still takes a book to read to fill quiet times. As part of this, he pursued training in strategies that were often less well known or valued by mental health professionals, yet often helped clients make significant, and often profound changes in a comparatively brief time.

In shifting from licensed counseling to life coaching, Gordon’s goals center around helping people develop a doable plan, identify and utilize both external resources and internal resources, overcome mental and emotional blocks, and tap into their core values to empower their efforts.

I was glad did. I had a bodywork specialist begin working with me and was able to bring my neck out of pain and back to 100% function, no surgery or pain medication."

Benefits of Massage

Experts estimate that upwards of ninety percent of disease is stress-related. And perhaps nothing ages us faster, internally and externally, than high stress. Massage is an effective tool for managing this stress, which translates into:
  • Decreased anxiety.

  • Greater energy.
  • Improved concentration.
  • Increased circulation.
  • Reduced fatigue.
Massage can also help specifically address a number of health issues. Bodywork can:

  • Alleviate low-back pain and improve range of motion.
  • Assist with shorter, easier labor for expectant mothers and shorten maternity hospital stays.
  • Ease medication dependence.
  • Enhance immunity by stimulating lymph flow—the body's natural defense system.
  • Exercise and stretch weak, tight, or atrophied muscles.
  • Help athletes of any level prepare for, and recover from, strenuous workouts.
  • Improve the condition of the body's largest organ—the skin.
  • Increase joint flexibility.
  • Lessen depression and anxiety.
  • Promote tissue regeneration, reducing scar tissue and stretch marks.
  • Pump oxygen and nutrients into tissues and vital organs, improving circulation.
  • Reduce postsurgery adhesions and swelling.
  • Reduce spasms and cramping.
  • Relax and soften injured, tired, and overused muscles.
  • Release endorphins—amino acids that work as the body's natural painkiller.
  • Relieve migraine pain.
